Jakob Ingebrigtsen was born on September 19, 2000, in Norway,
where his family belonged. Jakob began his school life at a private school in
Sandnes and spent his entire life studying there. Jakob's father's name is
Gjert and he shared his childhood with two siblings - two brothers Henrik and
Filip. Both his brothers are older than him and both are middle-distance
runners who compete internationally. All brothers received training from their
father. The Ingebrigtsen family also has four other children, Kristoffer,
Martin, Ingrid, and William. After Jakob's popularity and career, the family

Jakob took part in the 2015 Norwegian Championship. He also took
part in the 2015 Norwegian Youth Championship in Norway, where he was 1st in
the 800m and 2000m competitions. At the age of 15, he participated in the 2016
IAAF U20 World Championship. He won his first international championship and
stayed in the most important competition for three regular seasons of his
seniors, but in the 1,500m final, he finished in a solid ninth place. On May 27,
2017, Ingebrigtsen became the youngest athlete in history to run a mile in less
than 4 minutes, finishing 11th in the Diamond League race at Hayward Field in

During his performance at the Bislett Games in Oslo, Norway with
a time of 3: 56.29 on June 15 he ran almost two seconds faster. On July 8, 2017, Jakob made his first appearance in the 3000m steeplechase, where in Kortrijk,
Belgium, he broke the European junior record and finished the race with the
best time - 8: 26.81. On May 26, 2018, at just 17 years of age, Ingebrigtsen

for the 1,500m European U20 record where he ran 3:30:16 in Lausanne. On July 20

second-best 1,500m runner in the world, right behind Timothy Cheruiyot. Making
his long-distance debut, he broke Norway's Sondre Nordstad Moen's 10 km record
at Hytteplanmila in Hole on October 19, 2019, winning 27:54.
At the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 [delayed by the pandemic], Ingebrigtsen set an Olympic and European record in 3 minutes 28.32 seconds and
secured himself gold in the 1,500 meter final, beating the previous record
3:31:65 held by Kenyan Abel Kipsang. After breaking the record, Jakob became
the second youngest winner of the event. At the last bend, Ingebrigtsen
overtook Timothy Cheruiyot for the first time, who won the silver medal.
On June 10, 2021, in the Diamond League in Florence, Italy,
Jakob set a new European record over a distance of 5,000 m with a time of 12:
48.45, in a race where half a dozen competitors beat the time 12:55.
Ingebrigtsen set his first world record in seniors, reaching 3 minutes 30.60
seconds on 1500 m in the arena on February 17, 2022, and broke the 3-year-old
