Olivia Wilde was born
on March 10, 1984, in New York City, United States, but was raised in the
Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC. Her father, Andrew Cockburn, was
born in London but grew up in Ireland, and is a journalist. Her mother, Leslie
Cockburn, is a producer and journalist of 60 Minutes who was born in America.
She has two siblings, Chloe's five-year-old older sister Frances Cockburn and
Charlie's nine-year-old younger brother Philip Cockburn.
In her early years,
she studied at the private Georgetown Day School in Washington, DC, and in 2002
she graduated from boarding school at the Philips Academy in Andover,
Massachusetts, USA. Olivia had to cancel her admission to Bard College three
times to pursue her dream of acting. She later enrolled in the Gaiety School of
Acting in Dublin.
Olivia Wilde made her
film debut in 2003 as "Jewel Goldman" in the television series
"Skin". She then became well known in 2004 after her recurring role
as Alex Kelly on the series "The O.C." Olivia made various films in
the following years, incl. in 2004, "The Girl Next Door,"
"Conversations with Other Women" in 2005, "Bickford Shmeckler's
Cool Ideas," "Alfa Dog" and "Turistas" in 2006. She
starred in the off-Broadway theater production of Beauty on the Vine. She also

inspired by her award - winner of parents of journalists and documentary
filmmakers. In 2011, she joined the cast of Cowboys & Aliens as Ella
Swensen. She was a screenwriter and director of the film "Free Hugs",
which was shown at several festivals. In 2012, she starred in various films
such as "The Third Person", "People Like Us",
"Words" and "Deadfall". She also returned to the series
finale "House" as Remy in the two episodes "Holding On" and
"Everybody Dies". In 2018, she was cast in "A Vigilante,"
and in 2019, she made her directorial debut in the high school comedy
"Booksmart."
In 2006, she won the Comedy
Festival Award for Best Actress for her role in Bickford Shmeckler's Cool
Ideas. She won two awards, namely the "Teen Choice Awards" and the
"Vail Film Festival" for the Choice TV Breakout Star Female and the
Rising Star Award in 2008, respectively. In 2020, she won the "Independent
Spirit Awards" in the Best First Feature Film category for her work in
"Booksmart".
At 19, Wilde married
the Italian filmmaker and musician Tao Ruspoli on June 7, 2003. The couple tied
up on a school bus in Washington, Virginia, later announcing the wedding was a
secret. The couple announced their separation on February 8, 2011, and on
September 29, 2011, the divorce was finalized. In November 2011, Olivia began
dating Jason Sudeikis, an actor, comedian, and screenwriter. They have two
children namely Otis, a son born in 2014, and Daisy, a daughter born in 2016.
In early 2020, the couple broke up and announced their separation in November
2020.
