Van Lathan an American media personality served as TMZ Live's previous host. In 2018, while running the show, he got into an argument with rapper Kanye West about American slavery in 2018-2019. In April 2020, he hosted the podcast network The Ringer and two other podcasts The Wire: Way Down in the Hole with Jemelle Hill and Higher Learning with Rachel Lindsay. Despite being a famous host, he is also the executive producer of the Oscar-winning short film Two Distant Strangers (2020).

Van Lathan was born on April 16, 1980, and was raised alongside his older brother Ebony Rage Lathan by loving and caring parents Terry and Christal Ellis. He is believed to currently live in Los Angeles, although he did not reveal glimpses of his life, including details about his education, and the current status of his parents and other family members. It is known, however, that Lathan's father died in July 2021, which he also posted on Instagram paying tribute to his father. Also in 2003, Lathan graduated from a local school and college.
Van grew into a host and media personality. Prior to that, he
launched his weekly podcast titled The Red Pill which has around 50,000
listeners per episode. Today, he is both a television personality and film
producer, and the author of his book, in which he detailed the entertaining way
he went from fat to skinny. Even so, he is often seen as the author of reviews
and commentaries on his own journey through the great body-shaping
transformation.
Van began his career as a tour guide working for The TMZ Tour,
the adventure segment of the television documentary series Extreme, which was
released in 2012. He later began hosting a live version of TMZ's news program
called TMZ Live.
During his career at TMZ Live, he started another podcast called
The Red Pill by Van Lathan, which he launched on February 20, 2018, and ran
until December 2019. In the podcast, he talked about various guests who

Van Lathan hosted the sports and pop culture podcast network The

Lathan was a contributor to the well-known Higher Learning podcast,
which debuted in May 2020. In the podcast, Lathan and Lindsay's co-host
discussed the viral issues of Negro culture, sport, and politics, and invited
various guests to their program to discuss the debate on the subject. The
podcast also aired twice a week and continues to be broadcast on television to
this day. Lathan also executive produced the Oscar-winning short film Two
Distant Strangers, based on violence against black Carter and racial culture.
Travon Free, an Emmy-winning writer, and producer, wrote the
short film. It was a 32-minute short that previously was released on November
20, 2020, and was streamed online on Netflix on April 9, 2021. The short film
won an Oscar for Best Live Short Film in 2021 and an African American Film
Critics Association Award for the best short film of the same year.
Van Lathan did not reveal much about his life insights,
revealing that he is engaged to someone named Khalika. He lives a happy and
quiet life in Los Angeles with another family member, a dog named Boseman. Van
also said the same in his book "Fat, Crazy and Tired ..." Appearing
on The Breakfast Club podcast in 2018, along with his only friend and
Charlamagne host, shared a story about vacationing in Anguilla with his
partners. While Lathan was there with his fiancé, Charlemagne disclosed that he
was on vacation with his wife. But Lathan himself never disclosed his marital
status.
