Susannah Scaroni was born on May 16, 1991, in Burn, Oregon, USA, and grew up with her family in Tekoa, Washington. Speaking of her family, her father is Warren and her mother is Barbara Scaroni, and she spent her childhood with her only sister Rose Scaroni and two brothers Jesse and Chris. She was only five years old when she suffered a spinal cord injury in a T12 vertebra as a result of a car accident. Since she is in a wheelchair, she has started to build a successful life for herself. Susannah graduated from high school in her hometown and later entered Carrol College to study health sciences. She began her sports career in 2002 in Washington and developed her professional career in college, where she joined Illinois Fighting Illinois as a para-athlete and trained with the team. She started her career with marathons and began competing in several world marathons, such as the Chicago Marathon, London Marathon, Boston, and Tokyo Marathons. Since the beginning of her career in 2013, she has won several such marathons. Her most recent victories include the Chicago Marathon in 2022, in which she took 1st place. She began competing in the 2012 Olympics where she competed in the T 54 Women's Marathon and finished 8th. At the 2016 Olympics, she again took part in the women's marathon and finished in 7th place. In the same year, she also competed in the women's 800 m race but did not qualify for the finals.
