Metchie his mother's. His father is of Nigerian descent and his mother is
Taiwanese. Metchie moved to Accra, (Ghana) with his family. Later, he and his
four siblings moved with his mother to Brampton, Canada, while his father

touchdowns. Playing as a junior in 2021, John stepped into the role of
recipient number 1 and set a record of 155 receptions, the seventh highest in
the history of the program. In NCAA football for the 2020 season, John was the
first recipient to win the Jon Cornish Trophy as the best Canadian. While
playing the SEC Championship Game, John had a record of 96 8 touchdowns as a
junior in 2021, later tore off his ACL and had to rest for a while.
In his professional career, John was selected in the second
round (44th overall) of the NFL Draft 2022 by the Houston Texans. Later, he was
also selected by the BC Lions (Leos) in the seventh round (59th overall) of the
CFL Draft. Then on May 14, 2022, he signed a four-year contract worth $ 8
