Paul Mescal was born on February 2, 1996, in Maynooth, Co. Kildare, Ireland to Dearblh's mother and Paul's father. His mother worked as a policewoman or also known as Garda, and his father was a school teacher who also worked in semi-professional acting. Nell Mescal, a singer, is Paul's younger sister, and Donnacha Mescal is his brother.
He is also often seen as a family person as he always posts photos with his family on social media and recently even paid tribute to his grandparents on their anniversary. In 2017, he graduated with the title of Bachelor of Art Lir Academy, a drama school based in Dublin, Ireland.
