Facts
Ryan Long is a laid-back personality, ready to turn your struggles into reality. He was born in Philadelphia and later moved his family to Bansal when he was only 9 years old.
Ryan's parents were separated when he was only 13 years
old, and his father later died after reaching senior age, forcing Ryan to
return to town and spend the rest of his life with his mother.
He said in Jeopardy that he "barely" graduated from
George Washington High School. This was because he had to cut back to cover
expenses and barely paid attention to his studies. He described himself as
"not a very diligent student" and was distracted by other things
while going to work.
In January 2021, Ryan was hospitalized for several weeks
due to a COVID-19 infection. He worked for the SEPTA Personalized Social
Transport program and eventually became a driver and became a ride-sharing
celebrity to help his 8-year-old son named Nathan.
He wanted to watch Jeopardy in February and had been
thinking about it ever since. It was 16 months after he submitted his
application and he received a call for his first test when he realized it might
be a good time to start reflecting. Now he made his way to the platform during
a program where he earned 6 digits thanks to his intelligence and hard work.
Ryan described the situation as follows:
"If this opportunity had not arisen, I don't see how
all of this will go on in the long run."
During the game, Ryan also revealed that he had to afford
tickets to California after living with paycheck-to-paycheck services for over
a year. He only had two dresses left, and that was all he could afford at the
time.
But the wardrobe from the Jeopardy series helped him
continue his success and confidence to maintain consistency and attitude on the
show. He still feels very attached to his home in Philadelphia.
Upon arriving at the Jeopardy program, Ryan explained that
he initially felt at a disadvantage because other players had flashcards and
discussed the program's strategies. Some participants even shared their reading
books and buzzer techniques.
Ryan said in an interview that he was not preparing for
things and was studying the hard stuff for the show. He just wanted to go to a
concert and follow what he had planned and he just went with things.
The only thing was, that he trusted his gut, which paid off
handsomely. He said none of this was part of the strategy and he just went with
the flow of the game wherever it took him.
Regardless of how the show unfolds and how things unfold in
the future, Ryan is looking forward to meeting other winners such as Amodio and
Schneider at the yet-to-come Champions Tournament. He said on the show that he
only wanted to take the kids fishing, so he plans everything.
Ryan Long, who is around 39, is a happily married
personality, however, he has not disclosed any details about his wife's
identity. He also fathered a son with his wife whom he described in the series.
He currently lives at home with his extended family including his wife and
8-year-old son Nathan.
As an Uber driver, he's a regular guy who just knows he has
to work hard and is trying to pay the bills. She uses the money she earns to
live off it and take care of her loved ones. Despite putting his professional
life aside, on Thursday 19 May 2022 he was still winning a Jeopardy match and
won $ 105,801.
