Trotta started her professional life and wanted to become a high school journalist. She graduated from the University of Carolina at Charlotte and immediately landed a job as a journalist at the local television station WBTV. She was forced to transfer her work to Fox Sports in July 2010 where she began covering NASCAR and the NFL.
