Larry Walker, a car theft victim from La
Habra, California, died on Thursday, October 13 after he was dragged away by a
homicide suspect driving his stolen car in a police chase. According to a Los
Angeles Times press release, 63-year-old Walker was towed by the vehicle for
two miles before being found dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles
County Coroner's Office.
The victim's daughter Jamien Walker told NBC
Los Angeles, "What happened to my father tore my family to pieces."
According to family members, Walker spent more than 40 years in California
after moving from Georgia. They further reported that the 63-year-old man
looked after people with special needs in group homes and day programs.

"I never thought in a million years that this would happen to him," said Ed Walker, the victim's son. Mayor of Le Habra Jose Medrano posted a photo of Walker on his official Facebook page and wrote: "Please let Walker's family and all victims of crime be in his prayers." Meanwhile, police identified the suspect as 31-year-old Joshua Reneau and said he drove about three miles before crashing his car in five police cars.
Three people were shot dead in two separate armed robberies that took place on July 29 over the course of several hours. Reneau was tracked by the Los Angeles Police Department and the FBI FBI Fugitive Task Force for another murder warrant when the tragic manhunt began, according to authorities. According to the LAPD announcement, Reneau locked himself in the car for two hours before devoting himself to the SWAT team.
He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was held on suspicion of first-degree murder. Derek Hall, 28, of West Covina, and Miracole Brown, 20, of southern Los Angeles, were convicted by Valley Operations Bureau homicide detectives on charges of robbery and murder, and bail was set at $ 2 million.
