Mikaela Pauline Shiffrin was born on March 13, 1995, in Vail, a self-governing community in Eagle County, Colorado, USA. Mikaela was born to her father, Jeff Shiffrin, and to her mother, Eileen. Her parents were former skiers, so there is no doubt that skiing was in her genes. She grew up with her now-professional skier older brother Taylor Shiffrin. Mikaela's father was an anesthesiologist and worked at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
Mikaela moved her
family to Denver when she was thirteen years old when her father got a new job.
Mikaela started skiing at a young age and has won many competitions. She
graduated from Burke Mountain Academy High School, which educates and trains

most successful American athlete in the history of the Alpine World Ski
Championships in Cortina 2021 after winning bronze in the super giant and gold
in the high jump. Once again, on January 11, 2022, Mikaela impressed the world
in the light of the famous Schladming night slalom, winning her 47th victory in
the appeal slalom and beating Ingemar Stenmark in individual victories in an
enthusiastic triumph.
In September 2020,
Mikaela and her family helped send the Jeff Shiffrin Athlete Resiliency Fund to
pay tribute to her father. In response to the crisis and calamity surrounding
